Cookies

I made some last night, and they came out weird looking. I blame the oven in my house that doesn't work quite right...but they taste fine!

Wordless

I have your name on paper.

The silver pen in my right hand
writes no more ink than the letters of your name.

I click it open

then shut

then open again & point the top to the paper,
leaving nothing more than a black dot

click shut

I have too many thoughts,
too many feelings consuming me
no word does justice,

wordless - I remain
content, smiling - even sometimes laughing! -
as I simply stare at the four letters in your name.

Poem

I wrote one today and left my moleskine in the other room...how inconvenient!

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Oh man

So first things first:

My novel is done! I am still celebrating.

Also:

I heard this awesome woman singing in Barnes and Noble...she has a Christmas CD out, and I never asked the associates there who they were playing in the store! Damn! All I know is she had an awesome version of the Grinch song on the CD and I am dying to own it...Blargh! If anyone knows it...please tell me...or please begin a search with me to find it, and then listen to this woman...she is amazing!

Anyway, that is all for now...soon life on the computer will come more often again since I have a longhand version of my novel to type! Wooo!

My novel

is coming along quite nicely! I have a wonderful feeling the completion date will be coming before I planned yay!

Then I will celebrate promptly before the editing shall begin...who's in?

Hmm...

Did anyone else hear the song of the rain last night?

Winter is coming....

Today I wore my puffy vest and long white turleneck...it was awesome :-)

Karen and Jake will be here tomorrow with Meelies :-) Woot!

I went into work today. It was my day off; my primary reason for going was to eat chicken and dumplings. No lie.

Amazing Night

I was home alone last night and in a very odd mood (which happens when I have been writing and reading at extreme levels), so I blared Alanis Morisette's acoustic version of Jagged Little Pill, wrote in my Moleskine, and took pictures in black and white.

It was totally me. :-)

If anyone wants and odd night such as this, let me know. I'm IN!

Silly

I find it very easy to pass my day off by driving around. Strange, but works. I also make odd stops and visit people at work. Around here, work is pretty much my life anymore!

I baked cookies today for the first time since I moved....they are delicious :-)

Where did all this time just go?

I've been writing a lot in my actualy moleskine as well...that's probably it. Most of the time because of Windows Vista the computer annoys me, so I choose not to use it, especially when the internet is involved!

I had a strange thought last night about putting all my stuff in storage and living couch to couch for a while and writing a book on it. I would spend my days off in the library writing and sleep wherever I found a bed or couch for a while. For me, it was oddly intriguing for the fun level of writing I could possibly begin. I would live without my own computer just fine after burning everything left on this computer to discs and living the odd life of a writer as I choose.

Then, when it got too old I would get a place to live again, not realizing how much money I had actually saved! Ha!

It's an odd dream yes...but I still have my Mom's PO Box if it could ever be possible. See? I would even have a place to receive my mail!

The tricky part would be telling Geico where my car's physical address is.....Could there be an "other" option?

Morning person

Sometimes I sleep in until around 11, but other times I am a morning person.

I think my mind wants me to wander out of dream mode lately, so it wakes me up to think.

Why is it our own thoughts are more frightening than others?

That being said, I have changed the format of my daily thoughts for now to something a bit more strange. I look at things in a weird way so I can come up with odd ideas, and I make up scenarios about things I will never know the story to (and never need to know!). I am currently in the process of starting 3 different books. What I am reading depends on the room of the house I am in.

Does it work? Sometimes! I find my strange thoughts the most comforting thing. That, my friends, is how I attempt to cope.

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Yup

Dreams

I have been having odd dreams lately. I know exactly why and the explanation is not needed....but why do dreams have to relate so well or coincide so well with events in life? Even if the dream is completely off course from your surroundings...sometimes you find the dream you have to be no suprise to here and now. How odd...just like my dreams.

Does anyone want to escape from where they are for a little while? Even if it is only in a dream? Let me know if you're in...'cause I am!

Halloween is coming...

What inspires most costumes?

Why are we all so desperate to change who we are for one night only?

Blast from the past!

I am in Potsdam with Karen at the moment, and it's pretty crazy because it's been a little over a year since I was here last! Everything from my nighttime view last night seemed to have kept the same view it originally had...not too much has changed. However, from what I hear there are many changes in town...such as the closing of the Giant Tiger! Crazy crazy...Karen and I will be checking out those sights today I am sure. Sometimes I miss Potsdam...even the class part, but it's a visiting place for me right now...and I don't mind keeping it that way!

Friday is the big, random, VT move for my Mom...it's a week of traveling! My car is having fun! Ha!

Getting more used to typing on lap tops...hmmm....good for the future of the novel.

Where would I be if I actually decided to go to grad school? Eep!

Laptop

Typing on a laptop has always proves to be very difficult for me. I am "old fashioned" I guess! Anyway, someday when I get to the point where I can type the next draft of my novel I want to get a laptop for such an occasion. How will I adjust?!

Perhaps, Christina W., this is when my novel will leak it's first chapter on the internet! Hahah!

Maybe.

Interesting

How exactly was the word "perfect" created if there is no such thing as perfection anyway? And if I am correct in saying there is no such thing as perfect wouldn't "near perfect" be impossible to measure since we don;t know exactly how to reach perfection anyway?

Perhaps, we never know perfect when we have it. Or, we should stop using perfect as a comparison in general.

Download

Matt Nathanson...all of it! Especially Wedding Dress

Glee songs....even if you're weird like me and don't watch it!

Carrie Underwood's Cowboy Casanova...simply amazing!

It's windy and I have one broken window in the process of being repaired....the weather outside and inside match. I don't care for the way they lived "back then"

Can anyone...

write a song that would be similar to listening to the rain?

I miss my old house on rainy days, it sounded much coller in the rain. I guess NOW I have a better reason to go outside and watch it if I like, which makes me miss my Mom's house because it had a garage for such things.

I have plenty of windows here to watch such things though, so not all is lost in this house!

Has anyone out there ever had a kiss in the rain?

Ha!

I have black hair now.

And my personal checks have my picture on them :)

Could it be a special (or dare I say lucky!) day in the life of you (or me?). Or is it what we call "another day"?

What defines a day to be just like any other?

Pez...

I need new dispensers...and pezamania in July! I may actually go in 2010!

Oh man...

Almost to moleskine number 3 for the novel!

Saturday, September 5, 2009

I need a song
A good one
A bad one
Lyrics or none

I just need something to listen to
and occupy my time

I need a song

No, this is not a poem...random words

It's so silent...where is the music?
I  got my eyebrows waxed

What's Up?

Twenty-five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
And I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
ooh, ooh ooh and I try, oh my god do
I try I try all the time, in this institution
And I pray, oh my god do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution
And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
Twenty-five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

I need a date....

Not a guy date...I usually have one of those ;-) Ha! A goal if you will. But when? Hmmmm
I need my eyebrows waxed

Josh Turner and the best part of Atlantic City haha

Josh Turner at the Dutchess County Fair...amazing! You need to see him sometime. Amazing live! I've seen him twice. He sounds just like he does on the album, he is hilarious and he puts on a good show. Plus, look at him! How can you go wrong?
For some odd reason the bus driver left his tie in our seat on the bus to Atlantic City. No, I did not keep it. Yes, I wanted to! Karen and I had loads of fun with it before given it to him at the rest stop. I miss it :) Ha!

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Whoa!

Where have I been? Ah man, my camera is upstairs. I mean to bring it to upload pictures to my computer. Soon. Very soon.

In case you didn't do it yet....

Click it dammit, I'd add it to the blog, but it's already on the internet. Who kows the original purpose of blogs? If you do, you understand me not putting on here!

http://www.potsdam.edu/academics/AAS/Engl/treeline/laclair.cfm

If you haven't clicked by now, click.

Something else odd

I showed a woman today where the DVD players were in our store, and she told me it was not a dvd player. When I picked it up and showed her it was in fact a DVD player, she looked quite embarrassed.

I would be too, and I don't embarrass easy.

"Hey Kim...

Nag nag nag"

Quote from Karen today...hilarious! Ha!

Ever get excited about doing something in the future even though you know it's crazy, then have people bombard you for it...yeah that was going on today. Thank god Karen was there to notice the annoyance. :-)

<@:-) = Clown face.

Home from work

I am smelly and I need to shower, but I like to avoid showers, not because I hate being clean. I like to be a clean person! However, I hate the time it takes to shower. Is it odd? Yes, it is very odd, but it is what it is!

Tomorrow is my Mom's birthday...I have her the best present EVER in 1986 (Karen and me...kidding: or am I? ha!). Gotta get some roses and bring her a gift! Yay!

I also need to buy cat food tomorrow. Did you know I have five cats? Yes, I am an accidental cat lady...at least I have a roommate to be one with me haha.

I have far too many books to catch up on! What will I read next?

Or should I just continue to only write for a while? Damn decisions...so difficult!

Thursday, August 20, 2009

It's my birthday!

I'm not big on making a huge celebration with my birthday, but I always do enjoy sharing it with my awesome twin, Karen! We are turning the big 2-3 today, so it is off to Red Lobster later for dinner!

Crab legs! Yes!

Truck went smoothly today. I went to bed around 8:30 and got up at 2:05 am (yes I purposely set my alarm for that time), I slept well too! No nap needed! The District Manager did a nice little walk through today. I'm actually still not sure how it all went, I'll check tomorrow! But yeah, today is an exciting day indeed.

Go to the Potsdam website (http://www.potsdam.edu) and under search type in "Treeline" you will find my name there! Click! Read! Yay!

Pictures to come? Of what? Still not sure...keep on clicking and peeking at my blog to see...or not. You have the ability to do what you want. Wonderful isn't it?

So far the birthday flowers consist of a Red Rose from Mom and hand picked flowers from Ian :-)...Karen got a buttload...I am stealing them (kidding). It's been a great day!

And it was truck day! (Did I mention I love truck day?)

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Why am I not in bed yet?

I have to wake up tomorrow around 2am to go to work and unload truck, and sometimes I get myself into bed really early for the purpose of NOT being tired in the morning, but I can't bring myself to do it! It's always a momentary tired that comes up after I've done most of the  truck for the day, and I always look much more tired than I am! Last week I feel asleep a few times in the back room, but that's the firt time that has ever happened!

And Ian just left :-( When I have to see him leave or the other way around is when the long distance thing sucks the most, but other than that it's been going quite well :-)

Retail POG Experience

My work at Rite Aid has officially improved! I used to be one of the slowest people EVER doing Planograms (POG in the retail world haha) and today I did one in what my boss said was a quick speed. She said she was impressed :) It's a very personal triumph, but a triumph nonetheless!

Saturday, August 15, 2009

Listen to....

Sarah Buxton. She should have so much more attenion in country music then she does.

If the time comes where you find yourself with Health Insurance...

opt for the Flexible Spending Account (FSA). It will be one of the best decisions you ever make!

Ah

I hope you don't mind the perfect stuggle appearing from time to time...it does in my mind every day of my life!

...And if you do mind - Ignore it!

Just so you know...

When you're buying a prepaid card you cannot pay with a check. Maybe this rule of prepaid cards seems silly, but it is the way it is. I have grown quite sick of being yelled at for it. I don't make these rules, but I have to follow them.

I understand people have bad days. We are human after all, but I wish that people would not take out their days on strangers. Anyone who has worked with people can feel me on this one. Your bad day is not my fault, and I believe that taking your bad day out of a hardworking person is not quite fair. There are plenty of healthy ways to deal with your issues, one of them NOT yelling at random cashiers or managers.

Do people feel good when they yell at people they don't know? Possibly.

But I will take this anger if it is my fault. I understand it at times when it isn't; that's all I can do. I'll always give the custoemr the best I can possibly offer!

That was one rant for the day. Saturday morning/afternoon in retail generally is inspiration for a rant; people tend to be a little more cranky in a crowd. Thank god I can come home to good food and an awesome playlist to relive the stress. More importantly, thank god I can write!

I found out my friend April is pregnant today! Congrats to her and her husband Chris!

I want to have the financial means someday to get in my car and take a a random road trip for miles. It will be simple, but gas gets pricey. I don't mind, but I believe it would be exciting! Anyone else in?

Could it be possible to ever find this so-called word perfection in real life? Is there a such thing as perfect or is what we called perfect only ever near perfect? -- If that is the case, I am quite happy with near perfect from time to time!

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Hmmm

Is it at all possible that the only thing that is really impossible is impossibility itself?

The beach of Twin Fun Day and the dangerous things I do while I drive

I take pictures while driving...the four hour ride back from Sodus is boring, but the ride is always worth it for Ian ;). The beach at Wilcox park was, in my opinion, definitly a hidden gem. I put the sand smiley on twice because I thought it fun to draw in the sand...and every body could use a smile (or two).
I definitly would like to tell people to please go out and pick up the Blue Man Group's CD The Complex. If you cannot pick it up, look up the music to it and download it and listen to it in the car or wherever you lead yourself. Definitly amazing which some sweet "cameo's" on the songs. This group is genius. I don't care who you are, you will find yourself agreeing.
"If I sing a song will you sing along or should I just keep singing right here by myself?
If I tell you I'm strong will you play along or will you see I'm as insecure as everybody else?
If i follow along does it mean I belong or will I keep on feeling different than everybody else?" - Blue Man Group!
Seriously though, if words and music and the ability to travel the way I like to did not exist...what would I do with my life?!
Another thought...people were hoping for rain today because of the humidity. Crazy right? The second the long awaited rain begins we want it to end. Can the weather ever be "perfect"?
I put perfect in quotes because I do not believe such a thing exists, just like being "normal" or "weird." Impossible!

Sights to see in NH

Definitly a stong opinion of mine that you haven't experienced all of NH until you have seen these places! Granted the loss of the old man of the mountain is still tragic to New Hampshire's natives, there are still billions of the simple things that can only be found in the Granite State. I like NH because when I go back I find most things haven't changed which is great! I can't wait for my next visit.
Now where would you like to be caught metting up with something you haven't seen in years: your hometown or a somewhere completely unexpected?

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Home Sweet Home!

Well I am home from NH and have to be at work again tomorrow at 4:30. Nothing like getting back into gear!

New Hampshire was awesome though. I love when I get to hang out with family and do random things. I did a few things I had not done in years such as candlepin bowling and going to Canobie Lake Park. Pictures to come!

New member to my Rite Aid family...

Yesterday morning I went to the hospital and visited my friend Nikki to see her long awaited newborn baby Andrew Dean! Here he is!

Friday, July 24, 2009

Crazy!

Tomorrow I FINALLY have my long awaited day off to do pretty much NOTHING! I'm excited; nobody really gets to have many days off to do nothing at all, so tomorrow I'm all over it. As promised, here are pictures of the sinking "car" in my yard :-)

I thought it was pretty funny. I should t ake it out soon. Perhaps I'll do that when I do yard work next.

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Next post to come

Pictures of parts of my strange life like promised...odd stories, and an impending mini-vaca to NH where I will enter the worlds largest moccasain store. Jealous? Live it.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Easy.

Today after I got home from a fun and exciting day at work (that's not sarcasm, I actually do love my job that much!) I decided I would finally dig up some roots from my back yard since the ground was wet and it's easier to dig up. Now my sneakers are all muddy and in the washer so I have no shoes, but it was definitly fun. I don't know why but I like to work when I am done at work...I'm a freak. Some people would say I am a workaholic; I don't disagree! At least Titan (my roommates Great Dane) got to have the chance to run around and have fun in the back yard while I did that, and I found some off things that the former tenants had buried in the yard. Mostly toy cars and pieces of wind chimes, but they're recovered now. The toy car looks like it is sinking in mud right now, so I kept it there because I thought it was funny (ha!). I should have taken pictures now that I think of it. If I get the chance I'll take some tonight before visiting in my twin sister, Karen, at the diner for dinner. Then they will be my next post :)

I  hope you enjoy random thoughts and strange parts about my day. I should share customer experiences soon as well.

Monday, July 20, 2009

Morning!

Before I put my contacts in this morning I had realized that since I worked and then went to the movies yesterday, I never came on the computer to update on my blog.

Harry Potter was good! Definitly interesting movies when you watch them. I keep hearing they are not quite like the books which is disappointing, but I'll judge with that once I actually pick them up and read them. I actually already own all of them. In good time I will read more.

I've been working on my novel quite a bit lately which has me super psyched! I'm getting some good progress.

Which do you prefer? The standard novel style, or a little bit of experimentation?

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Counting Down!

In one week I will have a day off again, which means I will be one day away from following my sister, Mando, up to NH and spend a few days! Nothing like traveling back to where you were born! Yeah!

Going to possibly see the new Harry Potter movie tomorrow...who's excited? I might be, have no read the books at all to compare though...

Friday, July 17, 2009

Weirdest thing...

I saw a rainbow yesterday during what I thought was the end of a thunderstorm...and the craziest thing happened. A lightening bold came and struck right down the middle of it. It was insane! Talk about a mismatched pair! Ha!

That's my workspace! I don't only write in my novel there though... I write in that everywhere. Did I mention I was writing that out longhand first?

Thursday, July 16, 2009

Catching my second wind again!

My favorite day of the week at work is truck day, which most people find funny because NOW we have to be at the store by about 2am to unload the truck. Today was a bit later so for those of us unloading it was there by 4:45...and it was a HUGE truck! I was quite tired, but now that whole second wind thing is coming back again. Time to write in my novel!

Which do you like better? A guy who leaves random notes, or a guy who buys flowers? Ask around, tell your friends to come answer the question. I am looking for other things people like as well...it helps with the whole novel process!

That impossible love

Ode to a Lover’s Union

On bitter summer

or winter

or spring

or perhaps fall

mornings, faces of those

who see the dim sky

wrinkle their smiles

to a frown.

Children grumble

of cabin fever.

Parents moan of

boredom and fury.

Nature weeps from

loneliness.

Nobody ever wants to stand

in the rain.

Yet, you stand

face to face

under a clouded

dawn, ignore the

bite of frosty

air and embrace

through the literal

storm, and forget

the sky is weathered

gray.

Morning

I am definitly a morning person. I meant to sleep in today since I do not need to be at work until noon, but 8AM rolled around and I woke up! I was actually happy to see that once again I woke up to no rain in New York, and there was nothing but sun and massive amounts of cars speeding past my house in the morning. I like when I can enjoy the weather like this...it's so easy to appreciate! However, the other day I was looking through my poems and realized once again why I don't usually mind the rain:

The Rain Isn’t All That Bad
Raindrops,
Stain my window,
I stay inside to watch them fall.

The lilies bloom to womanhood;
You caress the petals of my cheek.

Emerald paints oak branches
While maple trees grow their hands.

The clouds slowly scatter
While the sky stands naked

And dries the grass
We walk over hand in hand.

You stand at the doorstep
Holding fresh daisies behind your back

Offering picnic rendezvous’ under apple trees
Where we can digest the blossoms

And laugh. What devils we are,
Murdering plants for survival.

We never thank the rain in grace
For keeping us alive.

And we never ask the stormy nights
To lock us in the house,

And eat popcorn at the fireplace,
Only to fall asleep on the couch.

Raindrops,
Stain my window,
I stay inside to watch them fall.

In the car

This is what I do while driving....trust me I don't drive well while I am at it.

Dear Grandma

If you had a chance
would you remember your last day?
Would you sing
would you dance?
What would you do?
If you had one more day,
would you see me again?
Could the bounty of your voice
overwhlem the room?
And what the memory you held on were better,
What if your life took the rode on the right?
Now what if your car never parked in the wrong yard?
What if you stayed at home alone?
Maybe your were lonely,
Maybe the diet could have changed.
They don't have all the causes,
but the ending still remains.
Can you have one more chance,
another conversation to remember?
What if you knew you would die this way?

Do you remember where you are now?
The children you cared for?
Is Grandpa there with you?
Will I see you again.

RIP - - It's been since January, but today I thought about it for whatever reason you think about these things.

After Work

Sometimes I wish that gas was not so expensive so I could drive all the time. I love to think about the songs I am listening to, the air passing my window (when there is no rain or cold!) and the silence that can be so haunting.

My novel actually will have a large focus on driving. I have done a lot of driving in my life, especially over the past two years for the simple purpose of work. However, that is one of the only hints you will have towards my novel. The rest is a secret. I find some comfort in having that secret available to me.

Today is the same as every other day for me. I am fine with that as well. I worked and I thought about my life, trying to think poetic at times as well as thinking in narrative form (it helps my writing process).

I hope someday to touch people with my writing style. I also hope to find inspiration to write poetry on my blog. It has been a while. Sometimes I worry I will never write it again! However, I know that's pretty silly...it always comes back!

Is the rain over?

If you live in New York, or anywhere surrouning it, you have been living through about 2 months worth of rain. However, today it's finally not raining! It will be a busy day at work, which will make the day go by faster, but I'll also be envious of people enjoying the holiday. It'll be nice when the mud in my yard dries, but I can't wait for sun! I love the rain, but this year it has overstayed its welcome.

How many times can you reassure yourself that without the rain the grass or flowers cannot grow?

Money

Why does it have to exist?

I'm new to this...

I guess people have found it a little odd that I have been writing for years but never had a blog. I got bored today in the midst of writing in my moleskine as well as playing around on my computer, so I guess I thought a blog was something I should finally do! I adore writing, have a degree in Creative Writing and work at Rite Aid (find a job in creative writing NOW ha) but I love my job and think about writing all the time, so I am not going wrong really! Like everyone else I don't have a lot of money to go around, but I am paying the bills, so that's all that matters. Anyway, I figured this could be like my virtual Moleskine to use instead of writing (when my hands are cramps haha). I plan to use it for personal thoughts and ideas, possibly some poetry. I have always loved to write any kind of thing that comes to mind. Where better than a blog? Well, I guess my Moelskine, but I'll do both in all places!
